Wear the day lightly

A wooden pier with a coil of rope leads to weathered fishing boats under a pink and orange sky. AI-generated artwork.

Some of us dress in the day as if it were armor. Every task a test. Every delay a personal insult. By evening we’re exhausted from carrying what was never ours.

Wear it lightly. Do the work. Then set it down on the pier like a coil of rope. The boats will still be there. The sky will still turn.

Lightness isn’t laziness. It’s refusing to make every hour a courtroom. You can care deeply and still leave a little room in the shoulders.

When you catch yourself clenching, loosen one thing. The jaw. The list. The story that says it’s all on you. Walk to the end of the dock. Breathe. Come back smaller, and truer.
