Soft isn’t weak

A still fjord between steep mountains reflects a pink and orange sky; horses graze on a grassy bank. AI-generated artwork.

People confuse soft with small. They aren’t the same. A still lake can hold a whole mountain. A kind word can stop a fight that a hard one would feed.

You may have learned to brace. To answer quickly. To need less so nobody could say you needed too much. That was skill. It doesn’t have to be the rest of your life.

Softness is letting your shoulders drop before you have won anything. It’s eating when you’re hungry. It’s crying without making a speech about it.

Nothing outside has to change for you to try this. The horses on the bank aren’t proving a point. They’re eating grass under a pink sky. You can be that plain.
