Sadness can sit with you

Some sadness is information. A loss. A long stretch of too much. A life that got smaller than you hoped. Cheering it away is a kind of rudeness to your own heart.

Let it sit. A blanket in a field. Room for a body that isn’t performing joy. You can still notice the flowers. Both can be true.

Sadness that can sit often moves. Sadness you exile comes back as a stranger, louder.

If the sadness has stopped moving for weeks, if food and sleep have gone, if you cannot find a reason to get up — that’s more than a chair. That’s Help. Please use it.
